Kawambwa, Zambia – July 15, 2026 – The Government has donated 65 boxes of milk to Early Childhood Education (ECE) learners at Munkanta Primary School in Kawambwa District as part of efforts to improve nutrition among young children and strengthen the Home-Grown School Feeding Programme.
Speaking during the handover ceremony, Kawambwa District Commissioner Godfrey Chilambwe, who was the guest of honour, said the initiative demonstrates the Government’s commitment to enhancing the health and learning outcomes of children in early childhood education.
Mr. Chilambwe noted that proper nutrition is essential for children’s physical growth, cognitive development, and school attendance, adding that the provision of milk will complement the ongoing School Feeding Programme in the district.
He encouraged teachers, parents, and school management committees to continue supporting government initiatives aimed at improving the welfare of learners and ensuring that children receive quality education in a healthy environment.
The District Commissioner also highlighted the importance of the Home-Grown School Feeding Programme, saying it not only improves nutrition levels among learners but also supports local agricultural production by sourcing food from local farmers.
Kawambwa District has a total of 91 Early Childhood Education centres, all of which are expected to benefit from government programmes aimed at improving the well-being of young learners.
Teachers and parents at Munkanta Primary School welcomed the donation, describing it as a timely intervention that will contribute to better nutrition and improved concentration among ECE learners.
