KAWAMBWA TOWN COUNCIL RECEIVES 15 MOTORBIKES TO STRENGTHEN INTEGRATED OUTREACH SERVICES.

Kawambwa, Zambia – 26th August, 2026 — Kawambwa Town Council has received 15 motorbikes from the Ministry of Health, with support from cooperating partners, to strengthen the delivery of integrated outreach health services to communities, particularly those in hard-to-reach and underserved areas.
Of the 15 motorbikes, five have been provided by Equal Chances for Human Development (EC4HD), while 10 have been provided through the Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunization (GAVI).
The motorbikes will support health facilities and outreach teams in taking essential health services closer to communities living in distant and hard-to-reach areas. They will facilitate the movement of health workers, vaccines, medicines, medical equipment, health education materials and other essential supplies required during integrated outreach activities.
Speaking during the handover ceremony, Director of Health Services, Dr. Lweendo Munzele, thanked the Government and cooperating partners for the support.
Dr. Munzele urged the recipients to ensure that the motorbikes are used strictly for their intended purpose and are serviced routinely to ensure their reliability and longevity.
The recipients also received an orientation on minor servicing of the motorbikes to equip them with basic skills needed to maintain the vehicles in good working condition.
In a vote of thanks, one of the facility staff members expressed gratitude to the Government for the provision of the brand-new motorbikes and pledged that they would be put to good use in improving healthcare delivery to communities.
The handover of the motorbikes is expected to contribute significantly to improving access to essential health services and strengthening community-level service delivery across Kawambwa.
