MID YEAR REPORT - 2025

The Engineering and Fire Services Department is actively supervising and monitoring ongoing construction projects aimed at enhancing healthcare infrastructure and sanitation facilities. These projects are funded under the 2024 and 2025 Constituency Development Fund (CDF) and include:

  • 6 maternity annexes
  • 3 ablution blocks and sanitation facilities

across various wards in Kawambwa Central and Pambashe Constituencies. Progress is being closely monitored to ensure timely and quality completion. Some projects have been successfully completed, while others are progressing well.

Modern Bus Station (Phase One) Project Update

The Modern Bus Station project in Kawambwa District is funded by the World Bank under the Zambia Devolution Support Programme and implemented by Kawambwa Town Council. Key project details include:

  • Contractor: Elichil General Dealers
  • Commencement date: 30th June 2025
  • Completion date: 30th December 2025

Project Progress as of 31st July 2025:

  • Site establishment, mobilization, and preliminary works are underway.
  • Activities completed include site clearance, setting out, and earthworks.
  • The project is currently on schedule, with no major issues reported.

Proposed Capital Projects

The Engineering Services and Fire Services Department has identified several capital projects to improve infrastructure and ensure safety and reliability. These projects include:

  1. Rehabilitation of Chimfwembe Old Market: Full electrification, security enhancements, and repainting.
  2. Rehabilitation of Chimfwembe Main Market Toilet and Revenue Ticket House: Construction of a revenue ticket house, plumbing works, electrical works, and repainting.
  3. Construction of Civic Centre Carport: Full construction of a carport as per design.
  4. Rehabilitation of Council Chamber and Civic Centre: New ceiling board, improved ventilation, office furniture, and full repainting.
  5. Plumbing Works for Civic Centre Ablution Block: Full renovation of the plumbing system and wall and floor tiling.
  6. Repainting and Plumbing Works for Munkanta Lodge: Full plumbing works and outer painting.

These projects aim to improve the safety, functionality, and aesthetic appeal of key infrastructure in Kawambwa Town Council.
